What if the buyer does not pick up the Vinted package I sold to them?

What happens when a package is not collected from Vinted? How long does the seller have to pick it up? Does Vinted refund the amount to the buyer? What happens to the return costs?

These and other questions arise when the buyer does not collect the package that the seller sent. In this post, I explain the details of this situation.

Vintage features

At Vinted, seller has the obligation to send the item, properly packaged,   buyer's address or at a receiving point you specify, within 5 working days.

When it comes to national shipments, they can go to a postal address or a pick-up point. For international buyers, you can only ship to a pick-up point. It is in the latter case that problems may arise. 

How the Vinted platform works

Once the package arrives at receiving point ( Punto pack, Mondial Relay, La Poste, etc.) , the buyer receives a notification to pick it up. You have a maximum period of 14 working days to do it.

Le seller also being informed that the package has arrived at destination, it is customary for him to write to the buyer, to let him know that he can now pick it up. The sooner you leave, the sooner you will receive your payment.

If you check that the buyer does not pick it up within a reasonable time (5-7 days), you must contact Vinted support to report the incident. From now on, the transaction will be suspended until the situation is resolved.

What if the buyer does not pick up the Vinted package I sold to them?

For its part, the buyer must collect the package as soon as possible and check that everything is in order. Once you confirm that everything is fine, Vinted will pay the seller the amount of their sale.

When a package is not picked up on Vinted, within 14 days it is returned to the seller. This unfortunatly  will not have to pay any kind of return postage. The cost of the service is borne by Vinted.

You should keep in mind that in this case, this is not a “normal” return, such as the one a buyer must make, as part of a dispute process on Vinted. We are talking about the return of a parcel to its sender, in the absence of a response from the recipient.

Delivery time of a package

Often, the time it takes to deliver a Vinted package is directly related to the payment method, the shipping method chosen by the buyer, and the time it takes the seller to ship the package. This duration can last up to five days.

Buyers are aware of the stipulated delivery time before making payment and even receive a notification message to let them know when the seller ships from Vinted.

The destination and shipping company

It is important to note that the delivery time depends on the destination of the package as well as the shipping company. In any case, it is common for the delivery time to be between two and five working days if it is a national shipment. International shipping can take four to seven business days.

What if the buyer does not collect the Vinted package?

After the maximum time,  the transaction is canceled. 

When a package is not picked up on Vinted, the item returns to the parcel point at from which the seller sent it. Vinted will inform you upon your arrival at the establishment. However, you will not receive any amount for the sale.

The buyer does not confirm receipt of the package

If the buyer has received the package, but does not confirm receipt, the company Vinted proceed to the validation within a few days then release the payment to the seller so that it appears in the "available balance" of his account.
