Install Mac OS Catalina in VirtualBox

Check the minimum requirements

It is important to verify the configuration minimum requirement of Mac OS Catalina if you want to install this version at any time. And it is that Mac OS Catalina requires 12,5 GB of storage space, 4 GB of RAM and a MacBook from 2012 or newer. 

For installing Mac OS Catalina in the virtual machine via virtual Box , it is recommended to manage more than 6 GB of RAM memory and 25 GB of storage space. We also recommend that you learn to increase disk size in a virtual machine with VirtualBox.   

Download and install Virtual Box

Once you have verified the requirements, you need to download the virtual box. To do this, go to the official website of the application. Then follow the instructions given by the developers of Virtual Box before running this tool on your computer.

Once you have obtained the download file, proceed with the installation. Accept them Terms and conditions indicated to continue the process and press the "Accept" button. 

Download the Mac OS Catalina image

The next step is to download the Mac OS Catalina image. To do this , you must access the Website du apple support and hit the "Download" button on the first option you see at the top left of the page. After the download is complete, make sure to extract the .dmg image from the system.

Create the virtual machine  

Open Virtual Box and in the menu, find the option "New". A new window will appear to enter the name that will identify the virtual machine, its location, the type and version of the operating system.

Then press the "Next" button, select the RAM memory you are going to work with and the "Next" button. You will see a new window where you need to choose the virtual hard drive for the operating system you previously downloaded. Activate the option "Use a file from virtual hard disk existing ”, select this disk and press“ Create ”. You can also clone virtual machine to use it on another PC.

Configure the virtual machine

Check your operating system configuration and change the minimum value of RAM memory to 4 GB in the "System" section. In the "Processors" section, check at least two processors and press the "OK" button. You can even add another hard drive to the virtual machine if desired.

Then go to the section that corresponds to USB and check the option “USB 3.0 Controller”. Then in the screen options and select the maximum video capacity of your PC. Then press the "OK" button.  

Configure Mac OS Catalina from Windows

Access the command prompt by administrator mode and type the following command line cd "C: \ Program Files \ Oracle \ VirtualBox \". Add the following lines by replacing "" Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina "" by the name you gave to the virtual machine
