How to wake up our computer from sleep mode with keyboard or mouse in Windows 10

One of the functions of a computer that allows us to save energy when we are not going to use it is to suspend the computer . This function places our computer in low power mode so that it uses only the energy necessary to keep the computer in a dormant state, being able to wake it up in a few seconds and resume activity as it was at the time. before falling asleep, being a much faster option than, say, hibernating.

When we suspend our computer, it is very easy to reactivate it when we are going to use it, and it is that for that it is enough to press a key on our keyboard, or even use the mouse , to remove it from the suspension and resume the activity as we left it. Although this is usually not a problem, many users cannot reactivate the computer Windows 10 a time it is asleep using its peripherals, and can only do so by using the computer's power button.

This is because our operating system is configured in such a way that when it goes to sleep it cuts off the power to the peripherals to save more and, when they are disconnected, it does not matter how much we press the keys or let's move the mouse. , our system will not come out of suspension.

Fortunately, resolving these issues is very easy, and just tell Windows 10 that the device in question can wake up the system when it is suspended. Then we explain how to do it.

How to configure Windows 10 so that devices, such as keyboard and mouse, can wake up a suspended computer

In order to be able to wake up our computer with the keyboard or mouse after hibernating it, we just need to make sure that we have enabled a box in the device properties, within the Windows device manager. To do this, in Windows 10, we are going to right click on the Start button and select " Gestionnaire de périphériques »To open the configuration window for the devices connected to the computer.

In this window we will simply look for the keyboard, mouse or any other device that we want capable of reactivating the computer when it is suspended (for example, a remote control), and, clicking on the device with the right button, we will choose the option "Properties".

In the new properties window, we will select the “Power Management” tab and verify that the CASE « Allow this device to wake up the computer Shown in the following image is there.

If we try to activate this option on a device and the tab " Power management » does not appear, then this device does not support this function.

Once we have verified that this option is enabled in our device, when we suspend our computer we can use it to remove it from the suspension, either by quickly moving the mouse or by pressing a button, such as pressing on a key of our keyboard, without having to depend on the power button of our computer to reactivate the equipment.
