How to Download Official ISOs of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 from Microsoft's Servers

Unfortunately, many users often download operating systems from untrusted sources. Installing an operating system downloaded from an unofficial, usually pirated source involves assuming a lot of risk since, for example, it is not known if this is really the version they are claiming or if someone Modified it and installed malware in it to spy on its users, so it is always advisable to go to official sources when downloading both an operating system and an application for it.

Although the company did not always put the ISO officials at the available to all (only for subscribers), she finally decided some time ago to do so, delegating the legality of the system to the license and not to the image, thus reducing the number of infected operating systems without users are aware of it.

Although today Microsoft only allows us to download Windows 10, taking advantage of a simple trick, it is also possible to download the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 ISO , systems which are still supported and which represent a considerable market share.

What ISO can we download and how are the K, N and KN versions different?

If what we're going to do is download windows 10 , the two main versions of the operating system, Home and Pro, will come in the same ISO, activating one or the other depending on the activation license.

If what we're going to do is download an ISO of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 , our options will be:

  • Windows 7 Home Basic
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Windows 7 Professional
  • Windows Ultimate 7
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 8.1 Professional

In each ISO we can see 3 different versions: K, N and KN:

  • N : Commercial version for the European market which eliminates multimedia support.
  • K : Commercial version for Korean market, it comes with links to download third party media players and email clients.
  • KN : A combination of the two previous versions.

How to download official Windows 10 ISOs

As we have seen on other occasions, Microsoft allows us to download the official Windows 10 ISOs from their servers for free. To do this, just access its main web page and, at the bottom, choose the version you want to download.

The ISO image we choose will allow us to install the Home and Pro versions of Windows 10 . The Enterprise versions, for obvious reasons, are not available for download in this manner.

Once we have chosen the version of Windows 10 that we want to download and that we click on "Validate", the web will ask us for our language and our architecture, that is to say if we want the operating system for 32 or 64 bits.

How to Download Official Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 ISOs from Microsoft's Servers

By default, Microsoft does not allow us to download older versions of its operating system to get as many users as possible to update to its new operating system, however, it is still possible to download these versions of Windows taking advantage of a little trick.

The first thing to do is to access the main website from which we previously downloaded Windows 10 with a browser that allows us to use the developer console, for example Firefox or Google Chrome.

Once on the web, we open the console:

  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + K
  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + J

And we paste in the console the script that we can see in the following link .

We press “Enter” and we can see how the same box appears as before in blue. If we open it we can see all versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

We confirm and we can choose the language of the download again.

We confirm again and finally we can choose whether we want to download the 32-bit or 64-bit version.

Downloading these images is completely legal since, by default, they are disabled (like any other Windows) and it depends on our license key to activate it in order to make legal use of the operating system. However, Microsoft could block this "trick" at any time, so if we're interested in ISO, we need to download it ASAP.

Update: This technique no longer works, however, if you wish to download ISO Windows 7 , 8 or 10, we recommend that you do it by this alternate method.

Have you ever downloaded the official Windows ISOs to save them in case they are needed?
