WhatsApp is about to make video calls

The most used messaging application in the world is preparing another great novelty that will allow you to catch up with the best communication tools. A German blog posted two images in which you can see a video call in a higher version of WhatsApp which is still in testing . It looks like this form of communication will soon arrive at the final version.

WhatsApp has never lost its position as a privileged tool for communicating messages. But it is also true that he has never been at the forefront of innovation. They have always preferred to go behind others but in complete safety. In other words, do not launch news to launch. In fact, it is for this reason that VoIP calls took so long to reach WhatsApp when the competition had already used them for months . That's why it's partly surprising that video calls are coming in so quickly, though frankly, Facebook's purchase of WhatsApp has given it a residue it may not have had before.

Of course, the german blog in which the images were posted has not confirmed that the video calls will arrive immediately, even if they imply that they are very close . The version of these screenshots is 2.12.16.2 and the current version of WhatsApp for iOS is 2.12.12.

Several tracks

Although these are only two images, we have several clues as to what this new WhatsApp video calling service can really be. The first thing that catches our attention is that we will see the thumbnail of our image, that is to say what our interlocutor sees, at the bottom of the screen.

There we also see a normal menu of any video calling app. In other words, the possibility of changing the camera, from front to back, and the button to mute the microphone so that the other person cannot hear us . In addition, it is also known that these video calls can be made via a WiFi network or a mobile data network. Of course, you have to be pretty careful with the latter as a video call can get in the way a bit when checking how much we have spent from our tariff. In other words, it is not comparable to the data used by a VoIP call.

For now, all that remains is to wait for WhatsApp to comment on it or for this new feature to arrive. It is also not excluded that it first reaches Android, then iOS or vice versa. In this regard, WhatsApp has always been a bit confusing.
