Tip of the week: what is slow mode or how to avoid flooding your telegram chats

Telegram is an instant messaging network characterized by the introduction of innovative functions which are then copied by its competitors. The clear example is WhatsApp, which took inspiration from Telegram to create stickers that still don't match those of its rival.

Despite the knockoffs, Telegram continues to bet on developing great features for its users. One of them is the slow mode, integrated in the August 2019 update and which allows limit sending messages in groups so that it is easier to follow the thread of the conversation. We have tested Slow Mode and in addition to highly recommending it, we're going to walk you through how you can use it.

What is Telegram's slow mode and how to activate it in your groups

Having a conversation in a group chat on WhatsApp, Telegram and similar apps can go very well ?? or very badly. If the members of the group are numerous, it is common for the messages follow one another without giving you time to read them all, thus losing track of what we are talking about.

To solve this problem, Telegram has developed a slow mode which helps to slow down the pace of the conversation. After enabling this feature, group members will need to wait for the time that the administrator has configured between sending a message and another. Thus, the conversation is orderly and all members can converse without their messages getting lost without being read.

The administrator of a group is the only one who can activate slow mode in Telegram. However, he does not suffer the consequences of this function and can send messages whenever he wants, without suffering this time limitation. As we said, we have tested Telegram's slow mode and confirm that it is a very useful tool for all members of a group to participate and follow a conversation.

In addition to clarifying what it is for, we will explain have step by step how you can activate this slow mode:

1º- Open Telegram and enter the group in which you want to activate slow mode (remember that you must be its administrator).

2º- Click on the profile picture or name group to enter the options menu.

3º- Click on the pencil button that appears at the top of the screen.

4th- Select the section Permissions.

5th - Swipe down until you find slow mode. Next, move the bar to set the time waiting for group members between one message delivery and another. It can range from 10 seconds to an hour.

6th- Click on the check mark in the upper right corner to confirm activation of slow mode.

After these 6 steps, slow mode will be configured in your Telegram group and will start working immediately. Once someone has written, you'll need to stick to the timer which will determine how long you have to wait before you can join the conversation again.

If you still do not have this function in your mobile application, remember that you must always keep Telegram updated with the latest version. So you will never miss the news of the messaging platform which as you can see is always useful.
