Why you shouldn't share lottery ticket photos by WhatsApp or Telegram

The vast majority of Spaniards usually tell the most relevant news in our life via social networks or email clients, but when this news is that we have won a lottery prize, it may present a risk for us. This is what happened to a citizen of Murcia who decided to share a photo of their award-winning post on WhatsApp.

Do not share photos of lottery tickets awarded by WhatsApp or the same that could happen to this citizen of Murcia

Be very careful with what you share on WhatsApp

According to Europa Press, a citizen of the Murcian city of Cartagena, after winning a prize of 1 euros in a lottery bet, decided to share the photo of said post with a group of friends via WhatsApp instant messaging app.

When, the next day, he went to get the said ticket, this individual discovered that a other person had already claimed the prize, by registering on the Loterías website including the ticket barcode identifier.

The ticket owner then went to the nearest Civil Guard barracks to report this fact and the agents, with the help of the betting establishment, managed to identify and arrest the alleged culprit of this fraudulent offense: an 18-year-old male residing in the municipality of Cieza who received the photograph of the winning ticket via another WhatsApp group, in which another person shared said image.

This fact shows why it is not advisable to share photos of lottery tickets by email clients like WhatsApp or Telegram, because once we share something like this in a contact group, we lose control over multiple reruns of the same and on which some people use you can give these files.

From Andro4all, we recommend that when you are going to share an image with sensitive data via a social network or an email client, to scramble said data with a photo editing app for Android such as Pixlr.
