How to extract single page from PDF files

Creating PDF files is not the easiest task. The format may be easy to see, but the file creation is often tricky. Having to install additional applications for simple modifications is an unnecessary part of managing these files. If you need to extract a single page from a PDF, you can install a free PDF editor or you can use your browser.

Most browsers allow you to print a web page or any other file they can open in a PDF. Chrome definitely has this feature and you can use it to extract a single page from a PDF.

Extract single page from PDF files

Open the PDF you want to extract a page from in Chrome. Click the print icon on the top bar. In the Print dialog box, you can choose how the document is printed. One of the options you can customize is the page to print. Open the page range drop-down menu and select “Custom”. Enter the number of the page you want to extract.

After selecting the page you want to extract, open the printer selection drop-down menu and select the “Save as PDF” option. Click Print and select the location where you want to save the file. You can give it a different name if you want.

When you open the file, you will only have the page you selected in the print dialog.

This same option will work in most modern browsers. Firefox and Edge both have it. You will have to dig into the commands a bit or you can always press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P to open the print dialog.

Most of the operating systems have some kind of application that can open PDF files, and you can also use this application for the same purpose. On Windows 10 you have Edge and on macOS you have the Preview app. They both use the print / dialog settings they support and the single page selective printing option is fundamental in the print dialog.

This same trick can be used to extract a range of pages from a PDF, for example you can extract pages 10-20 by entering them in the Pages option. You can also extract the selected pages that are not in the range by separating them with a comma. For example, you can enter 6,12,24 in the pages option to extract these three pages into a PDF file.
