How to Change and Install SSD Hard Drive in Laptop or Notebook

If you want change and install an SSD hard drive in a laptop or notebook and you do not know how to do it, here we will walk you through the necessary steps to perform the procedure quickly and safely.

SSD technology far exceeded the previous standard of mechanical hard drives , it is therefore very common today to want to replace these old discs with newer and faster ones. It is also an alternative to recover this old laptop that we have in disuse due to its poor performance.

What is an SSD?

In short, an SSD is a new model of hard drive, which has no moving parts , so it will not be affected by sudden movements, but on the other hand it is more sensitive to electrical fluctuations.

You should therefore take special care when connecting your computer, that it is in an appropriate outlet and that it is functioning correctly. SSD drives are currently used to replace old mechanical drives, due to the high refresh rates they serve many and better ways.

When we install an SSD drive, we must be clear that they use different software , so we will have to put à update the Drivers of our equipment to install those of this new unit. That way, we won't have any incompatibility issues.

How to install SSD hard drive in laptop?

In most laptops, the procedure is the same, on the one hand you need to have at least a flat screwdriver and one with grooves to remove the screws. First you need to turn the laptop so that the base is facing up, in the corners of the cover you will find several screws as well as in the center.

Some laptops have more than one cover, you can try removing some of them to see which one has the hard drive . In some models of laptops, there is only one cover, so to remove it you will need to remove all the screws first, and then with the flat screwdriver gently pry open the sides. You can have a little leverage, but be careful not to use too much force.

Once the cover is removed, you will see all the components of the laptop, or if in your case you don't have removed as the cover that protects the hard drive , you will only see the HDD unit. In both cases, it should be noted that the hard drive is attached to the computer chassis with a few screws. You have to remove them then with your hand pull very gently on the disc to remove it from the Sata connector.

Then, you have to hold the SSD and place it in the same position as the old drive, taking care not to damage the connectors. Then we can fix it with the same screws as the other. In case the SSD does not provide how to adjust it, we can remove it from the hard drive. In some laptop models, we can connect the hard drive as a secondary drive.

Finally, after we have adjusted it and ready, we will have to replace the cover and adjust it with the screws and the change will be ready. With this we can move on to the installation of a clean operating system to get the most out of the new SSD.

What is the point of installing an SSD on my laptop?

So-called SSDs or solid-state drives were characterized from the start by the high speed they have for reading and writing data, so their use in our laptop can give it a second life.

Compared to hard drives , the speeds are abysmal, some SSDs have three times the speed of a high-end hard drive, so even the cheapest drives are a good investment, you don't even have to spend 80 euros on these models. It is therefore also an economical option, it is important to know how to buy them and not to be wrong and buy a hard drive high speed.

Another thing that can help us switch to an SSD is playing broadcasts where the maps are very large and the disk has to load too many textures, because the load times are very fast in these units, the reading will become a new experience.
