It's official: Instagram declares war on Tiktok

Instagram launched Reels in August of last year, an option integrated into the application and allowing the sharing of short videos, to compete face to face with TikTok, which was the fastest growing social network at the time.

Both platforms offer a very similar service, and many content creators saw this as an opportunity to share their videos in both apps, but now Instagram has decided to stop promoting recycled TikTok videos on Reels.

Instagram is determined to surpass TikTok

Instagram no longer wants recycled TikTok videos on its platform

As we say guys from GSMArena, echoing an Instagram post from the Creators account, the social network owned by Facebook has decided to penalize influencers and content creators who share their videos in both applications and for that it will start to stop promoting videos that appear with a watermark on its Reels service, something typical of content posted on TikTok.

In this same post, a few tips are put together to be more easily discovered in Reels and the main one is to post entertaining, funny, inspiring videos and, of course, recorded vertically. At the same time, they also indicate that users dislike poor quality videos, for example those that appear blurry due to their low resolution, and recycled videos from other apps, with clear reference to posts from TikTok.

Instagram clarifies that although these posts do not appear as featured in the reels, they will still be available in the tab Profile and will appear in the subscriber feed.

It is a movement that clearly seeks to veto TikTok content on its platform so that influencers decide to publish only on Instagram and thus bring many users decide to only use the app owned by Facebook.
